Dear Colleagues -
Welcome to a new semester and a whole new set of challenges as we move music forward into the lives of our communities. We'd like to hear about your successes and your needs in the coming year, so please feel free to contact me or any of our MACCC board members with information or concerns you feel are pertinent to our teaching.
Judging is now complete for our 2023 MACCC Composition Contest. We thank our judges Brian Ciach and Christopher Luna-Mega of San Jose State University. We heartily thank all of the students who submitted works for adjudication as well as their teachers. The submissions received were all classical in nature, so no prize was made for the non-classical division. Awards were made as follows:
1st Place, $200: Aidan Smith, Las Positas College, Dan Marschak, sponsoring teacher, Cirque D'araignée
2nd Place, $100: John Paul Bowers, Butte College, Hesam Abedini, sponsoring teacher, Etude for Banjo and Objects
CONGRATULATIONS to these students and their wonderful teachers! I'd like to wish you all a marvelous new year. Remember, Saturday, May 11 is CCC Music Day. Let's all honor that day with performances in our communities.
